Pilar Villamor

Pilar Villamor is an artist and scientist whose work explores the intricate relationship between nature, science, and the unseen forces that shape both. As a landscape seismologist, she studies the land for evidence of prehistoric earthquakes—an inquiry that mirrors her artistic fascination with shape, texture, colour, and the underlying energy hidden beneath seemingly still scenes.

Working across various media and techniques, Pilar is particularly drawn to processes that involve a degree of unpredictability, such as mixed media, cold wax, and ecoprint. She views painting as a dialogue between artist, material, and subject—where the outcome emerges through collaboration and discovery. Like the natural world she studies, her work often hints at what lies beneath the surface, inviting a deeper contemplation.

Artists

Our local artists are constantly taking risks and believe that inspiration can be found wherever they look. So that you can be more connected with each other, we'll be providing a fully interactive Artist Hub for artists and organisations to upload information about themselves and their work.
