THis images is part of an ongoing series inspired by various locations across Aotearoa, begins with her carefully collecting and photographing individual items in their natural settings. These items are never removed from their original location, preserving the integrity of the landscape. Back in her studio, Mel digitally constructs kaleidoscopic compositions, which are then printed in limited editions. Each piece is hand-embellished with ceramic elements that she creates herself, along with 24-karat gold leaf. The works are named after the specific locations where they were conceived.
